Advertising disclosure and privacy
Updated 2026-08-23. This page explains how advertising works on Workflow Test Lab and what happens to your data when you visit. It is written in plain language on purpose.
Advertising (affiliate) links
Some pages may contain affiliate links to the tools we test. If you click such a link and then buy or upgrade, we may receive a commission from the vendor. The price you pay is not higher because of it.
How we handle this:
- Marked at the link, and at the top of the page. Every page that carries affiliate links opens with a disclosure notice, and each such link is marked next to the link itself, so you can tell a plain link from an affiliate link without reading the fine print.
- Only inside tested content. We place affiliate links only in pages about workflows we have actually built and tested with that product. There are no coupon lists, no "best tools" roundups built from vendor material, and no links in pages that recommend against a product.
- Testing comes first. The test matrix runs, and the failure modes are written up, before any affiliate link is added. Our findings do not change when a partnership starts.
- Current status (2026-08-23): we have one active affiliate partnership, with Make (joined 2026-08-22). Advertising links to Make appear on two pages, the tested workflow guide and the blueprint page, each marked next to the link and announced at the top of the page. Each of those pages carries one Make advertising link; if you sign up through it, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every other product link on the site is a plain link. Where an application to a program is pending, no links are placed until it is approved. Our tests of Make, and the failure modes we published, predate the partnership and have not been changed since it began.
This follows the Finnish Consumer Ombudsman's guideline on influencer marketing and the identification of commercial content (kkv.fi, updated 2025, checked 2026-08-21): an affiliate link must be clearly marked as advertising in its immediate context together with the name of the company being promoted, and a page that contains such links must say so at the beginning. Editorial independence
No vendor pays for placement, reviews, or ranking on this site. We do not accept vendor-supplied test results, and we do not remove negative findings at a vendor's request. If a vendor disputes a finding, we re-test and publish the re-test with its date.
Privacy
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking scripts. The site sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts. We do not know who you are or which pages you read.
- The cost calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type into it is sent anywhere.
- Hosting. The site is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and requested page) under its own privacy statement; we have no access to per-visitor data from it.
- Downloads. The blueprint files are static files; downloading one sends no data to us.
- Email. If you write to hello@workflowtestlab.com, we keep your message to answer it and for any re-test it leads to, and delete it within 12 months of the last exchange. We do not add you to a list, and there is no newsletter. Mail is handled through Google's Gmail service.
- Test data. All test submissions in our evidence packs use synthetic names and lab-owned email addresses. Published files are sanitised of account identifiers.
Your rights (GDPR)
The only personal data we process is what you send us by email. The controller is Tuomas Talka, Finland (the site's operator); the legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you. You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to the processing, by writing to the address below. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
